Announcing the new PowerPoint 1.2, PowerPlane 1.2 & HigherPlane 1.2

New aluminum cabinet designs improve clarity and dynamics in these second generation high performance in and on-wall models.

We are happy to introduce the new aluminum cabinet PowerPoint 1.2, PowerPlane 1.2, and HigherPlane 1.2 Coherent Source loudspeakers. The new replacement models are all built with cast aluminum cabinets to offer significant sonic improvements in both clarity and dynamics. The new surface-mount PowerPoint 1.2 has also been reshaped with a new, sleek, rounded look, and the new in-wall PowerPlane 1.2's size has been reduced by 20 percent.

The new surface-mount PowerPoint 1.2, in-wall PowerPlane 1.2, and in-ceiling HigherPlane 1.2 are second-generation designs of the original, award-winning PowerPoint and PowerPlane. Their cast aluminum cabinets’ non-resonant walls eliminate unwanted vibration and the cabinet’s special shape adds rigidity and helps absorb internal energy by reducing unwanted reflections to significantly improve both clarity and dynamics.

The new PowerPoint, PowerPlane, and HigherPlane 1.2 bring a new level of performance to a category that usually compromises sonic performance for usability. These versatile models use the same high performance drivers we design and build for our award-winning line of floor-standing and shelf speakers.

The new models will be available in early March 2005. More detailed product information coming soon.

THIEL SmartSub bass system named "Innovation in Design" award winner

THIEL's fourth SoundStage! yearly award in a row

The THIEL SS2 subwoofer and SI 1 Integrator has been named as SoundStage's "Innovation in Design" Reviewers' Choice award Winner for 2004. "THIEL Audio's SS2 subwoofer and SI 1 Integrator are part of the company's aptly named SmartSub lineup and were runaway winners of the SoundStage! 'Innovation in Design' award for 2004" says SoundStage. " 'Thiel has taken a well-known product, addressed its deficiencies, improved its performance and made it more intuitive to use,' was Marc Mickelson's take."

The Reviewers' Choice award "recognizes products that offer superior sonic performance and/or outstanding value. " says SoundStage. More about the award HERE

"I know of no better way to add great low bass than THIEL's SmartSub line-up"

Marc Mickelson's SmartSub System review from SoundStage

"I give a standing ovation to Jim Thiel and the gang at THIEL Audio for not only conceiving of the SmartSub and its ancillaries, but making them a reality, ' says SoundStage editor Marc Mickelson in his recent review of the SS2 subwoofer and SC1 Integrator. "THIEL has taken a well-known product [category], addressed its deficiencies, improved its performance and made it more intuitive to use. Voila—they've re-engineered the status quo."

"Configuring a subwoofer optimally has always been a challenge… " says Marc. "[the THIEL] subwoofer and integrator/crossover are easy and nearly foolproof to use and the results are deep, powerful, non-directional bass that gives the aural illusion that your speakers have sprouted a new woofer or three.”

"Tremendous low frequency power and extension, but also...exacting finesse and bloom..."

"...the SmartSub doesn't merely add bass but effectively upgrades the performance of the entire system." - the 6Moons review of the PCS/SS2 system

John Potis of 6Moons.com reviews the THIEL PCS/SS2 system.

"It's not only a great but foolproof system," says John Potis in his review of the PCS/SS2 system at 6moons.com. " It's got both the muscle and finesse to work well in any room but particularly if you have a small to medium-sized room in which uncompromised full-range sound has eluded you thus far, I don't know how to best this three-piece speaker system at anywhere near its price -- if at all."

John gives quite a bit of space to both the PCS mini-monitor and the SS2 SmartSub individually, but he hears real magic in the combination. "I find myself quite enamored with the PCS monitors. They represent an excellent-sounding stand-mount with a wide-open and spacious presentation and crisp imaging." says John. "Their midrange clarity, transparency and musical detail are hard to beat especially at this price --but with the THIEL SmartSubs, they incorporate a clear upgrade path that truly results in a sum greater than either of the parts...the SmartSub doesn't merely add bass but effectively upgrades the performance of the entire system. Seen in that light, the addition of a SmartSub is an excellent investment."

John used the dedicated and affordable PX02 Passive Subwoofer Crossover in the system. "Simply put and with no work on my part whatsoever, the PX02 integrated the SS2 with the PCS monitors so seamlessly that I defy anybody to detect the subwoofer's presence blindfolded."

"Of course the music's vivid clarity was what struck me at first while at the same time," said John when listening to music. " All that polished brass and percussion lacked any sharp edges. As always but particularly with this orchestral piece, instrumental timbers seemed spot-on and true.  Soundstaging once again was well dimensioned and deep. Image specificity completely pleased this imaging freak but in the end, I was just so thrilled by how the Thiels were swinging in my room."

New ViewPoint offers high performance solution for wall mounted video displays

"...the ViewPoint ranks easily among out favorite plasma speakers. Its clarity and detail recall the excellence of those 5-foot tall, 100-pound tower speakers for which THIEL is best known,"-- Brent Butterworth, Home Entertainment & Design

The THIEL ViewPoint (R) is now available. The ViewPoint is a 2-way Coherent Source loudspeaker designed for use with flat panel, wall-mounted video displays. Custom-built to match the size and color of any flat panel display, the ViewPoint offers very high-performance sound and a seamless, integrated appearance.

The ViewPoint’s combination of coaxial/coplanar driver mounting and 90 degree radiation pattern enables the sound to cover the room far more completely than normal, more directional surface-mount or in-wall speakers. By utilizing the patent-pending combination of mounting the woofer very close and angled to the wall surface, the ViewPoint eliminates the wall-reflection cancellation that mars the sonic performance of virtually every other surface-mounted speaker, therefore providing a greater degree of tonal fidelity, accuracy, and more natural spaciousness.

"The THIEL CS2.4 is a great loudspeaker, one of the very best I've heard regardless of price," says Marc Mickelson in his recent SoundStage review. THIEL CES system named "Best of Show" by Audioholics

THIEL's multi-channel demonstration system at the recent Consumer Electronics Show in Las Veags was named "Best of Show" by the internet magazine, Audioholics. The system, which consisted of 7 ceiling-mounted prototype aluminum cabinet Powerpoints and 2 prototype SW2 subwoofers was powered by Theta electronics, wired throughout with Kimber Kable, and used a DPI projector on a Stewart screen. "Throughout the demonstration, the sound which arose from the theater was exceptional," said Audioholics' Steve DellaSala." The music seemed to come to life with deep, rich bass, accented highs, and colorful mid-range. Not only did the speakers perform well, but the set-up was equally as good. The sound seemed very balanced and not harsh as we've heard during other product demonstrations." Read the full article HERE.

6 Moons calls the CS 2.4 "the most accomplished speaker I've ever heard in its class."

CS2.4 awarded the site's "Blue Moon" award for "setting a new high water mark for speakers under $5000. "

"In an industry where some companies seem to be pushing the envelope of gullibility --trying to find that price point where gullible audiophiles will finally yell uncle -- I applaud Thiel for their efforts to push the performance envelope for affordable loudspeakers. They clearly have succeeded with this speaker, " says John Potis in his review of the CS2.4 at 6moons.com. "... the CS 2.4 is the most accomplished speaker I've ever heard in its class."

"Music lovers looking for the best and most complete speaker which $5,000 will buy should get a listen to the Thiel CS 2.4... There are many aspects of the CS 2.4's performance that are superb, and in some ways, these speakers are very nearly as good as it gets," concludes John.
