THIELnet™ Demo a Success at CES 2008
THIEL and partner BICOM revealed a new product concept, THIELnet™, at CES2008 with a working demo that generated quite a buzz from booth visitors.
THIELnet is a multi-zone, all digital entertainment system that delivers audiophile quality surround sound and/or stereo playback to virtually any location in the home, with plug and play simplicity for whole house installations. The THIELnet system is a complete home entertainment solution that includes a digital audio distribution processor, and full range, powered, IP based loudspeakers and subwoofer. THIELnet can be configured to
connect via standard ethernet cables or wirelessly.
The THIELnet demo was a 5.1 home theather setup including the dB1 distribution box, five ethernet connected SCS4Ds (IP addressable speakers with built-in 250W monoblock amplifiers), an ethernet connected SS1D (IP addressable subwoofer), and a Sharp flat panel display. Wireless SCS4Ds were also on display outside the demo room.
Visitors to the THIEL booth were also treated to a second demo room featuring the CS3.7 and SS1 SmartSub in a 2 channel system driven by top-of-the-line Bryston electronics connected with cables by Cardas.
While CES organizers estimate a decline in attendees from 140,000 in 2007 to 130,000 in 2008, traffic at the THIEL demos did not reflect that downturn. CES reports that this year’s event with more than 1.85 million net square feet of exhibit space and drew more than 2,700 companies, who introduced more than 20,000 new products at the event.
