 At CES 2008, THIEL will be playing an audiophile 2-channel system including CS3.7s and SS2 SmartSubs driven by top-of-the-line Bryston electronics connected with cables by Cardas. The CES 2008 Consumer Electronics Show runs from January 7-10, 2008, in Las Vegas, NV, and Bryston and Cardas will be sharing THIEL's exhibit space, Sands/Venetian Bassano Room #2601.
The CS3.7 utilizes all newly developed drivers, including a 5-inch ribbed midrange diaphragm that eliminates audible resonances while simultaneously reducing diffraction and reflection of energy from the very high output 1-inch tweeter. The 10-inch woofer diaphragm geometry increases strength while lowering overall mass for wider bandwidth and higher efficiency. The output of the woofer is augmented by an auxiliary bass radiator. The enclosure of the CS3.7 abounds with innovations as well—the cabinet top is made of formed aluminum that lessens cabinet resonances, diffraction, and serves to reduce internal standing waves. The side panels, made of 15 layers of hardwood, laminated and curved under high pressure, are extremely rigid and the driver mounting surface (baffle) is machined aluminum.
The THIEL SS2 SmartSub is the ultimate solution for bass management and reproduction in home theater and music sound systems. The SS2 employs two long-throw 10" woofers in a 108 pound cabinet with up to 105dB of output at 20 Hz and up to 112dB at 30 Hz.
 THIEL’s SmartSub Integrator is an active electronic device designed to achieve near-perfect integration between a THIEL subwoofer and virtually any pair of “main” loudspeakers. “The SmartSub Integrator takes the guesswork out of subwoofer crossover adjustments,” says designer Jim Thiel. “Rather than you telling the subwoofer how to perform by setting controls for crossover frequency, level, and phase, the Integrator’s SmartSub circuitry automatically calculates the ideal settings once you enter information about your main speakers.
