Electronic House Expo 2009
A Port in the Storm

While the world is seemingly falling down around us, 6 or 7,000 folks migrated to sunny Florida for the annual Electronic House Expo at the Orlando Convention Center. As always THIEL participated in Demo Alley, a collection of 9 demo rooms adjacent to the show floor that included speakers from fine competitors such as RBH, Genelec, Polk, Atlantic Technology and Monitor Audio, among others. Gary Dayton and Ken Dawkins partnered up with Mark Franks, Charlie Boornazion and Lou Kerti of Sim2 who presented their amazing C3X projector and anamorphic lens, Kevin Baisley of Vutec with his 132" Dyna-Curve Screen along with Ryan Conway and Dave Kakenmaster demoing PS Audio's A-100 amps, PowerPlant AC Generators and powercords.

The room was a bit smaller this year, and with the economy the way it is, Gary and Ken chose the SCS4s and an SS1 on each of 7 channels. The 15 minute demo included "God Bless the Child", a wonderful audio track from Jill Scott and George Benson, "Take Me to the Pilot", from Elton John's live 60th birthday bash in New York, and the bike recovery scene from the movie "Wild Hogs" with John Travolta, Bill Macy, Tim Allen and Martin Lawrence. The result was standing room only in half the demos and full attendance at most of the others. Judges were wowed, with some coming back more than once, and bestowed the room with three of the five awards, the first time this has happened in Demo Alley. The THIEL room won "Best Audio", Best Video" and Most Entertaining" awards.

The icing on a very sweet cake, was a six-suite demo set-up next door at the Rosen Plaza Hotel put together by our new rep firm, WSR Sales out of Orlando. The THIEL floor standing models were featured in a demo suite with the latest gear from PS Audio. Attendees could go back and forth in a five minute walk from the show floor to the Rosen Plaza Suites.

THIEL is appreciative of the effort and professionalism of all the folks at PS Audio, Sim2, Vutec and WSR Sales that went in to a fun and productive event. Once again, THIEL loudspeakers shine the big light in Demo Alley!
