New THIEL CS3.7 & SCS4 Highlight
|The New SCS4
Active System at CEDIA Expo 2006
First public demonstration of new model SCS4 LCR in booth SR-18
September 2006: We are excited to announce that we will have active prototypes of the new model SCS4 at this year's CEDIA Expo in Denver, CO, September 14-17, booth SR-18. The new SCS4 LCR (left, center, right) is targeted to be priced under $1000 each, making it one the most affordable THIEL wood cabinet speakers in the last 15 years. We will also be featuring prototypes of the much anticipated, floor-standing CS3.7, along with the new SCS4 for rears and center, and two SS1 SmartSubs in this multichannel music/home theater system. All these models are part of the THIEL's complete line of loudspeakers designed as the ultimate solution for home theater and music sound systems. THIEL will also be using the adjacent booth #713.
SCS4: Meeting the demands home theater
The new SCS4 is a versatile, two-way, bookshelf-sized speaker system that provides outstanding front, rear, or center channel performance in multi-channel or two channel systems. The SCS4's high output capability and high 89dB efficiency satisfy the demanding requirements of today’s home theater systems. In addition, the SCS4’s unusual coaxial driver mounting allows great placement flexibility by ensuring that every listener hears the sound from both drivers at exactly the same time, regardless of where and in what orientation the speakers are placed. But most importantly, the SCS4 provides exceptionally realistic and dynamic sonic performance because it incorporates the same innovative THIEL technologies that are used in our much more expensive products.
Extremely rigid and robust cabinet with aluminum baffle
The extremely rigid and robust cabinet contributes to the SCS4's exceptional sonic clarity. The front baffle is made of die-cast aluminum that is much stiffer than the usual MDF and therefore reduces the unwanted vibrations that obscure sonic detail. The baffle casting also provides a very rigid mounting for the drivers, reducing the whole-driver motions that degrade sonic clarity. The other cabinet panels are made of doubly laminated 1” thick MDF, unified and reinforced with thick braces. Such robust construction used in a cabinet of these compact dimension results in a level of strength and vibration resistance equal to that found on much more expensive products.
Innovative, very low distortion, coaxially mounted drivers
The SCS4 uses a very low distortion, high output, metal diaphragm 6.5-inch woofer that is coaxially mounted with a 1-inch, high output metal dome tweeter, the same high performance drivers that are used in THIEL's "Power" models, the on-wall PowerPoint 1.2, PowerPlane 1.2, HigherPlane 1.2, and ViewPoints, and the same tweeter that is used in THIEL's flagship model, CS7.2. The THIEL-designed woofer's short coil/long gap, copper stabilized motor system greatly reduces distortion, and the woofer‘s powerful, neodymium magnet improves efficiency and increases output capability to meet the needs of today‘s home theater systems. The woofer‘s reinforced metal diaphragm is specially shaped to act as a waveguide for the tweeter‘s energy. The shape reduces diffraction, a common problem with other coaxial designs.
The SCS4's final suggested retail price and shipping date are TBA.
