This driver was specially designed by Jim Thiel for one of our most successful speakers, the CS2.2. It was built exclusively for us by Vifa in Denmark to very tight tolerances. 

Several distortion reducing mechanisms have been put into place to ensure consistently outstanding performance and a high degree of accuracy throughout the operating range of the driver under a wide variety of conditions.

A very effective method is employed to increase rigidity and combat resonance problems that can damage otherwise good performance. Two non-parallel polypropylene cones joined only at the circumference and voice coil with an air gap in between comprise the diaphragm. 

So that none of the dynamic impact is lost during powerful passages, heavy copper rings around the center pole stabilize magnetic field strength.

Finally, a very rugged and stiff die-cast aluminum chassis provides the foundation upon which the rest of the driver is built. Smart geometry and good choice of materials ensures that no detail is lost due to unwanted chassis resonance.
